New Work: Inspired by books

I enjoyed a semester worth of inspiration this fall.  My teenaged son was taking a paper art class at his high school. They made a delicious array of books, which I got to see when I was invited to visit by his teacher.  It was the end of the semester and their final exam projects were displayed in the back of the room.  So many sizes, shapes, colors and techniques were presented.  It was so much fun to examine each one to figure out how it opened.  What a joy to carefully turn the pages and read each one.  It inspired me to try my hand at some books. (As you know, my primary medium is fabric.)  I enjoyed the process so much;  I decided to translate the paper concepts into fabric.  This lead to a stamp covered fabric envelope complete with an inspirational quilted work inside, a hexagon lidded bowl filled with beaded three-dimensional dragonflies, and a series of pyramidal amulet holders.  It was so much fun to explore these new areas/processes.  I look forward to my next adventure.
